In these Rules and Regulations unless there be anything .repugnant to inconsistent with the subjects or contexts:

1. Society means 'THE SMALL FARMERS' AGRIBUSINESS CONSORTIUM' .

2. President means the President of the Governing Body under these Rules and Regulations, who is the Agricultural Production Commissioner, State of Ker.ala.

3. Vice-President means the Vice-President of the Governing Body under these Rules and Regulations, who is the Secretary to Govt. ( Agriculture], State of Kerala.

4. Managing Director means the officer who is appointed as the Chief Execl;ltive of the Society by the Governing Body.

5. Members means the members of the Society.

6. Farmers means any individual who undertake the farming activity including Animal Husbandry and Fisheries.

7. Agribusiness means and includes Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Aquaculture. Sericulture, Hatchery, Production and Manufacture of Agricultural implements, Food processing, Canning of fruits, preservation of fruits and Agricultural Cottage industries. .

b. Associate member: Non Resident Indian, foreign companies, co-operative Societies, corporate bodies and other organizations involved in agro-business and all other institutions/individuals who have not become primary members and interested in the functioning of the Society may be admitted as Associate Members.

c. Associate members shall have the right to attend general body meetings of the Society, or any other _eetings to which they are invited, but shall not be entitled to vote.

Admission of members: The Governing Body shall be the final authority for laying down the procedure and conditions; and for determining the eligibility and suitability for admission of primary and associate members.

8. Subscription: Members shall pay subscription as may be prescribed by the Governing Body.

9. Termination or cessation of membership: The Governing Body of the Society shall have the powers to expel/terminate a member or/and members, from the membership of the Society on the following grounds:

(a). on death.

(b). on written resignation.

(c). if found to be involved in any anti-social activity.

(d). if adjusted by any court of low to be a criminal offender.

( e). if found guilty by means of anti-propaganda of the aims and objects of the Society. (£). if fails to pay subscription or contribution Continuously for three months.

(g). if has not attended three consecutive meetings.

(h). if disregards Rules and Regulations or disobey the decisions of the Governing Body.

Note: The decision of the Governing Body regarding the termination from the membership of the Society shall be communicated to the member concerned.

10. General Body: Defined

The General Body of the Society shall consist of all the primary members and associate members of the Society.

8. Year means the financial year commencing on the 1 st April and ending on 3151 March of the next calendar year.

9. Annual General Meeting and 'Special General Meeting' means such general meeting which are attended by the members of the General Body.

10. Institutions means and include Self Help Group, Societies, Co-operative Societies, other legal entities, Boards, Autonomous bodies, Trusts, Associmion of Farmers engaged in Agribusiness.

11. Representative means a person who is a member of the Society or represemative of the State or Central Gov!. or other agencies, organizations or firms who are qualified to attend the meetings of General Body and Governing Body in accordance with these Rules and Regulations.

12. Act means the Societies registration Act as is applicable in the State ofKeraIa in which head office of SF AC is located.

13. Memorandum of Association means the Memorandum of Association of Small Farmers' Agribusiness Consortium'.] _.

14. Agriculture produce shall include food grains, horticultural and forest produce, plantation, fisheries, dairy, poultry, animal husbandry and allied produces and products.

15. Any reference to the singular shall also include plural and men shall also include women.
